Elio is a practicing psychologist and a writer for Psychology Today, with a PhD in investigating killing in combat for elite and special forces. His clinical experience is broad and includes the treatment of couples, mood, trauma, personality and developmental disorders. Interests include the treatment of anxiety, high level performance and stress, adjustment and trauma. Elio enjoys combining metaphors with cognitive models of evidence-based treatment, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and solution-focused brief therapy. Elio takes a client centred, evidence-based approach to therapy and intervention and enjoys working with defence and other elite career personnel.
Elio continues to be involved in various academic collaborations across the globe and collaborates with organisations and individuals to provide training on a range of topics. Some of these include men’s health, social media and technology, performance enhancement and leadership in high stress careers. Elio has presented his own research at various international conferences across the globe.
