Kaori is a Registered Psychologist with a passion for normalising mental health concerns and creating a safe therapeutic space for all individuals living under the sun. While being culturally sensitive, Kaori draws on evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She has worked at a youth mental health service in the past, and has a particular interest in utilising the young people-friendly form of Acceptance Commitment Therapy, DNA-V.
Kaori has experience working with clients for a range of psychological and behavioural concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, self-harm behaviour, body-focused repetitive behaviour (tics), caregiver burden, dementia, ambiguous loss, and social skills training.
Kaori provided counselling for the international community in Japan prior to joining Strategic Psychology. In addition to her role as a psychologist, she is passionate about reducing stigma around mental health and promoting help-seeking in the community; she has provided workshops on mental health for teachers at international schools in Japan.
Kaori completed her clinical training at The Australian National University. Kaori is registered with Medicare and the Psychology Board of Australia under Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
