Sports Psychology

Sports psychology, also described as performance psychology, is used to help a range of people to achieve a better, more consistent or more refined approach to achieving their goals.

Performance psychology can assist individuals ranging from professional athletes, coaches and trainers to amateur sportspersons and people engaged in recreational sports. Some sports require a larger degree of psychological components than others, however regardless of your chosen activity performance psychology can assist you in maximising your potential. Performance psychology can be beneficial for individual athletes or performers, teams, and coaching and management staff. Performance psychology is also able to extend to artists such as musicians to address the psychological features of performance.

Sports psychology is the study of how psychological factors can influence performance across all aspects of sport and performance, including training and adherence to training plans, achieving balanced nutrition, teamwork, self-discipline, addressing burnout, goal setting, endurance and motivation.

Our psychologists can help with many aspects of sport and performance, including:

  • Management of additional life stressors and anxiety
  • Developing balanced coaching styles
