Alison is a Senior Registered Psychologist and holds a Master of Psychology – Educational and Developmental from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology from the University of Queensland. Prior to registering as a psychologist, she worked in research and project work. Alison has a strong background in education having worked in schools as a psychologist in Victoria, the Northern Territory and Queensland.
Alison enjoys helping people, including children, teens, and adults to gain a greater appreciation of a problem situation within the broader context of their lives. She does this in a subtle, humorous manner, whilst honouring the difficulties faced along the way. She uses techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), depending on the needs and preferences of each client. For children, she uses alternative (non-talking) methods, such as drawing, construction and active tools to help elucidate problems and wellbeing strategies.
Alison can also provide practical parenting strategies for parents to promote connection and foster wellbeing in themselves and their children.
Coming soon – Alison will be conducting psychological assessments for learning and attention difficulties and other developmental disorders.
