Kamia registered as a psychologist in 2000 and has been working as a psychologist in various sectors since then. She has worked in a range of settings including the Department of Defence, private practice, the Australian Psychological Society, Australian Centre for Post traumatic Mental Health, community health, disability, hospital and rehabilitation. Her experience is primarily in counselling, assessment, mental health intervention, critical incident response and organisational training as well as advisory and research roles.

Educated at the University of MelbourneMonash University and La Trobe University, Kamia is experienced and trained in a range of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural TherapiesAcceptance and Commitment TherapyMotivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy as well as training in mental health assessment and treatments. With a caring and sensitive manner she seeks to understand a person’s unique hopes and needs and to work collaboratively to address his or her goals.

Kamia has a range of skills including assessment and treatment of mental health issues (e.g., depressionanxietytraumastress), and a wide range of life issues. Her interests include neuroscience research and neuroplasticity, positive psychology and mindfulness based techniques.

Kamia has particular experience working with issues related to work, career, adjustment, stress, depression, anxiety and critical incident support/ psychological first aid in work, relationships, and military contexts. She works with grief and loss, adjustment, life transition, anger, assertiveness, sleep and personal development. Kamia is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).
